Notary Journals
Within 30 days from the date the notary public commission is no longer valid, the notary public must deliver all notarial journals, records and papers to the county clerk’s office where the oath is on file. If the notary public willfully fails or refuses to do so, the notary public is guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be personally liable for damages to any person injured by that action or inaction. (Government Code section 8209)
How to obtain this service…
Appointments are strongly encouraged and prioritized.
Step 1: Gather all Notarial Journals.
Gather and complete the cover page of each notarial journal.
Make sure all notary journals are completed:
- Name
- Dates – first and last date of notary entries
- Commission number
*Our office can only accept Notary Journals for those notaries that filed their notary oath with San Bernardino County.
Step 2: Call us to book your appointment.
Please call us at (855) 732-2575 to book your appointment.
Step 3: Drop off the Completed Notary Journals on the day of your appointment.
If returning more than 5 journals, you will be asked to drop off the journals and sent your receipt via mail.
If returning less than 5 journals, you will walk away with a receipt.

Step 2: Mail-in the completed journals.
Mail all completed journals with a letter indicating your contact information including:
- Name
- Phone Number
- Mailing Address
Mail Completed Journals to:

Step 3: Wait for receipt.
Once our office has processed your request, a receipt will be mailed back to you indicating the number of journals received and/or rejected.
